Bar Cento - Ohio City, OH (Cleveland)

I travel to Cleveland quite often and love getting to know the different areas near Downtown. One of those areas is Ohio City, which is located west from Downtown and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Cleveland. The West Side Market is in Ohio City and I had a foodie adventure there to Steve's Gryo's that you should yourself.

Bar Cento is one of five restaurants owned by the same group of folks and offers Italian comfort food like lamb meatballs, cassoulet and gnocchi. They are open until 2:30am so this is great place to go if you have a late night planned. I knew of Bar Cento from a local recommendation - you can never go wrong with those. But I didn't know until I arrived that they were named the Best Pizza in Ohio by Food Network and Zagat. That sealed the deal on what I was going to order.

You can chose from about a dozen different pizza pies. I had a couple of co-workers with me so we were able to sample three. I ordered the Sunnyside, which was the actual best pizza and I can completely understand why. It comes with provolone cheese topped with pancetta and eggs. The eggs are from a local farm and were perfectly sunnyside up. The runny yoke tasted so good with the salty bacon. I felt like I was having breakfast for dinner in pizza form. If you're a fan of bacon and eggs, then you should order the Sunnyside.

Spicy Chicken

Mediterranean

My coworkers ordered their own pizza pies and ate every last slice while I took some home for breakfast the next day (except I forget it!). They enjoyed it very much and found them to be delicious as well.

The Spicy Chicken comes with jalapeno basil chicken sausage thats topped with sun dried tomatoes, chili oil and mahon cheese. Mahon cheese is made from cow's milk and is aged to have salty and sweet buttery flavor. The Mediterranean is made with local feta cheese (I love feta!) and topped with kalamata olives, spinach and sun dried tomatoes. It was a great meatless option that had lots of flavor.

Definitely make your way over for dinner to Bar Cento for a slice, or two, of great pizza. Parking is super easy as there are free public lots around the area that are within walking distance. It's also a cheap cab ride if you're coming from any of the Downtown hotels.
