Superior Pho - Cleveland, OH

For as long as I can remember I have been questing to find "that" pho (pronounced "fuh") that I remember from my childhood. Superior Pho is the best I've come by so far and will now to be my go-to pho place whenever I visit Cleveland.

I flew in from out of town, but landed kind of late so I wanted to get take-out and eat in my hotel room. I also wasn't too sure what to expect because I had never been there before and it was a bit of an odd location. I parked out front - before I knew there was parking in the back - and ended up walking through one restuarant and past another before getting to Superior Pho. I will have to try these other places because they all looked and smelled delightful.

Superior Pho was tucked in the back, but was a fairly decent size. There were tons of tables and it was pretty full on weeknight. But considering the cold weather I was not surprised. Also made me think I was in the right spot because everyone seemed to be enjoying a nice warm bowl of pho. I ordered the traditional beef pho with the spring rolls. Within minutes my meal was ready to go. They were seriously the quickest take-out food I've have ever ordered. But don't take that to mean the quality was less. Because it was awesome.

The spring rolls were wrapped in the traditional rice paper that I was craving and stuffed with fresh shrimp and cellophane noodles. As with most spring rolls, it was refreshing and a really great start to any meal. The best part was definitely the pho. The soup was the most traditional and flavorful soup that I can remember eating. It was beefy and brothy and the beef slices were served rare. You know you're getting a true traditional pho experience when you are served fresh rare beef slices. You toss them into the hot broth and it cooks right up. It's the perfect bowl of yummy warmness on a cold Cleveland night.

I still have a couple other pho places in Cleveland that I have to try. But I will say that Superior Pho is pretty good even if it's not the penultimate pho that I so very much crave and try to find with my many adventures.
